Here's to the next 25 years! from our Special Needs Tutor, Kathy

Posted by Kathy Charman

Here at Bore place, our regular groups with additional needs have been busy making a difference to our environment for 25 years! And I've been working alongside them for 22 of them...

It only seems like yesterday that we began hosting regular groups, and they are now very much part of our community, and valued for the part they play.

On Thursdays we have a group who visit from Milestone Academy in North Kent. This group work with us as part of their Work Related Learning curriculum.  We are the first experience that many of the children have, of working in an environment outside of school.

On Fridays we have a mixed group which includes mainly students from the Astley Centre in Bromley, and some independent students who join with them.

Pictures from our archive show how hard the groups have worked, and the difference they have made to our environment over the time they have been with us.

The group helped to build our lovely yurt (unfortunately, long since blown away in a gale!)

They have maintained many parts of our Bore Place grounds and gardens:

The groups have also taken time out to enjoy outdoor celebrations around our own camp fire in the Green Man Glade:

As well as festive celebrations in Bore Place House itself:

Young and old, our students (and staff!!) are able to achieve and enjoy working in the wonderful environment we have here at Bore Place; skills and understanding are developed and nurtured at a pace and level which is appropriate for every learner.

Thank you and well done to all of our regular groups with additional needs and here's to the next 25 years!!
