Steps for Nature: 10,000 steps a day to support outdoor learning and biodiversity at Bore Place
Challenge yourself to walk 10,000 steps a day, every day, throughout March to support our outdoor education activities, habitat management, and biodiversity.
Take on a personal challenge or take part with a team of friends or colleagues. You can take part wherever you are - on your commute, in your local park, or out on a run - and improve your health and wellbeing whilst raising funds to make a real difference to our work.
Over 200 young people take part in educational outdoor learning experiences at Bore Place each week, the majority of whom have special educational needs and disabilities. We also work to protect and enhance wildlife habitats across our 500 acres of publicly accessible land, supporting biodiversity.
Every step makes a real difference to the work we can achieve for young people, our community and for nature. So grab your boots, fill your flask and start your watch – let’s get moving for nature and learning! We will support you every step of the way…
FAQs
Can I take part as a team? Yes! You can part as an individual or as a team of up to 6 people. You can compete with other teams for the most steps and most funds raised over the month.
How do we log our progress? You can log your steps directly on your fundraising page. Most people use a fitness tracker or smartphone app to keep track of their daily steps.
Is there a minimum amount to fundraise? There’s no minimum fundraising target – every step and every donation makes a difference. Fundraise as much as you can and help support outdoor learning and biodiversity at Bore Place. You could ask your company to match your teams fundraising to boost your donations!
Do my steps have to be outdoors? We encourage you to get outside and enjoy nature as much as possible but all steps count – whether you are walking in the park, on your commute or in your local area.
What will my fundraising support? Your fundraising will help support our outdoor learning programmes for young people, as well as our work to protect and enhance wildlife habitats and biodiversity at Bore Place.

Donor Advised Funds
Please keep in mind that Commonwork Trust accepts gifts from Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs), so if you have a DAF, please consider recommending Bore Place and the Commonwork Trust to your financial advisor. All support enables us to increase our positive environmental impact on the land and engage more young people and communities with nature.
Legacies
It is possible to leave a gift in your will to Bore Place and the work of the Commonwork Trust.
