Survey volunteers wanted!
Are you interested in finding out about bats? We are looking for volunteers (no experience necessary) to help us conduct a bat survey at Bore Place. The evening will begin with an introduction and task briefing and then, equipped with your bat detector, you'll be stationed around the site to conduct the survey and record your sightings.
We know this is over dinner time, so please bring something with you. There will be a break to eat after the presentation, before the survey starts. We'll have tea, coffee and squash available.
Please book a ticket below to help us have an idea of numbers.
- Dress for the weather (it can get cold) and wear comfortable boots.
- If you have a bat detector, please bring it along.
- Bring something to eat.
- Suitable for age 16+, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
What is citizen science? Citizen science is when members of the public voluntarily help out with scientific research. In this case, we'll be locating bats onsite and recording species, and this information will contribute into our site-wide dataset about the species of wildlife at Bore Place.
This is part of our Bore Place: We Are Nature project which aims to enhance biodiversity at Bore Place through habitat improvement and land management, whilst engaging with as many people as possible through citizen science surveys, conservation volunteering and school trips, providing opportunities to connect people and nature.
