Child tickets: Free

Weekly outdoor play session for pre-school age children and their carers

We are excited to announce a brand-new programme of outdoor play sessions for pre-school age children and their carers. The project is funded by the Postcode Local Trust and aims to provide opportunities for local people to connect with and enjoy nature. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

This booking is for 6 weekly sessions 10:00-12:00 on Thursdays: 21 April, 28 April, 05 May, 12 May, 19 May and 26 May.

What will we do? Each session will be based around a seasonal theme and will include:

  • Exploring the woods to look for clues, collect natural items or hunt for bugs
  • A nature related craft or art activity such as making nests, crafting with recycled materials, making bird feeders, planting seeds, creating natural collages or doing art with mud, chalk or charcoal
  • Stories, songs and free play
  • Learning about different birds, animals, trees and plants
  • Learning to enjoy nature and thinking about how we can look after it

What facilities are available? The group will meet at 10:00 in our Gallery Reception, where toilets and baby-changing are available. We will return here at the end of the session to wash our hands, warm up and have a hot or cold drink.

What do I need to bring? Just make sure that both you and your little one are dressed for the weather. The best tactic is to layer up. Make sure little ones have waterproof tops and bottoms (or an all-in-one suit) and wellies. Long sleeves and trousers should be worn in all weather to protect from scratches and stings.

Will we go out in all weathers? Yes, apart from high winds and thunderstorms. We will go out in the rain!

How do I sign up? The sessions are FREE and open to families living in the local area to Bore Place. Tickets are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. You are welcome to book both sets of 6 sessions (availability permitting).

This project has been made possible by an award from Postcode Local Trust, a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.
