An Introduction to Butterflies and Moths

Event closed

We're sorry, this event has now passed.

Free event! A practical wildlife identification workshop for adults and children, exploring the organic gardens and meadows for common butterflies and moths.

Gather around the moth trap to see what flew in overnight and learn more about these beautiful and varied insects before releasing them. Then enjoy a guided stroll around the gardens, meadows and hedgerows in search of butterflies. Find out how to tell them apart using identification guides, and learn how you can attract them to your gardens. Please note that butterflies can be hard to find in overcast, wet or windy conditions.

Most of the session will be spent outside, so please dress for the weather and bring boots/wellies.
Children under 16 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

This training session is one of a programme of events in the Bore Place Wildlives and Wellbeing project. Keep an eye on our What’s On page for more wildlife identification training sessions, residential stays and Bioblitzes in spring and summer 2018. Sign up to our mailing list to keep updated.

This event is free thanks to funding from the Postcode Local Trust. Postcode Local Trust is a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Our Wildlives and Wellbeing project received £18,047 from the Trust to deliver: programmes that build confidence, independence and wellbeing for children and adults with special educational needs; lead wildlife identification workshops and offer therapeutic Wildlife Wellbeing residential weekends in the beautiful setting of Bore Place
