Sunday 10th June | 12:00pm - 5:00pm

Open Farm Sunday

Farm and market garden tours, tractor rides, meet the cheesemakers, walks, delicious organic BBQ...

Visit our farm on Open Farm Sunday and discover the world of farming. Open Farm Sunday is a national event and farms all over the country will be opening their gates and welcoming visitors to see their farm in action.

Meet our farmers and experience the sights, sounds and smells of our organic dairy farm. Take a family-friendly (all children must be accompanied) guided tour and learn about the inputs, outputs and processes of the farm and what it takes to be a farmer. You will find out what it means to be organic and how the cows are kept.

See what the cows eat and go into the milking parlour to watch the cows being milked!

Go on a tractor ride into the fields to see cereal crops growing and find out what we do with them.

Visit our organic Market Garden with our new Market Gardener, to see what's growing and find out how we grow vegetables to supply our kitchen and other local businesses. You can also find out about our care farming project Grow to Grow and the therapeutic benefit the garden gives young people who visit Bore Place.

Blackwoods Cheese Company will be demonstrating how they use Bore Place milk to make their cheeses. Come along to meet the cheesemakers, take a tour through the dairy and taste some cheese! They will also have a selection of cheeses available for you to buy.

You will need to wear sturdy shoes/boots (ideally wellies!). There are hoses to wash your boots off after visiting the farm. Please be aware that the farm tour will be accessible for wheelchair users, but there is no access to the milking parlour, and the Market Garden is on uneven ground. There is a disabled access toilet at Reception.

Refreshments

  • Local strawberries
  • Ice cream
