Come and celebrate with us!
This summer, Bore Place turns 50 — and we're marking the occasion with a special family day out in the Kent countryside.
Join us for the Bore Place Birthday Spotter Trail: a self-led adventure designed for families with young children, with 50 things to find across the woodlands, fields and grounds. From bees and beetles to compost heaps and muddy puddles, it's a chance to explore this special place and discover what makes it so unique.
Pick up your spotter sheet at the welcome briefing, then head off at your own pace. When you're done exploring, find a spot to enjoy your picnic and let your children loose in our free play area. There's no rush and no finish line — stay and enjoy the site for as long as you like. Every child who takes part will receive a citizen scientist sticker — because that's exactly what you'll be today: exploring, observing and discovering the natural world.
Who is it for?
This event is designed with young children (up to age 10) in mind, but older siblings and curious grown-ups are very welcome to join in too.
Good to know:
- Please arrive by 10:30am so we can do a briefing promptly at 10:45am.
- Bring a picnic! There are no catering facilities on site.
- The site is largely accessible on foot, though some areas may be uneven or muddy — wellies are recommended! Pushchairs and prams are welcome, and while you may not be able to reach every corner of the site, there are plenty of things to find without venturing off the beaten track.
- Please wear long trousers and sleeves — we recommend covering up for sun protection and for exploring in the undergrowth!
- In the event of severe weather, we'll be in touch via your booking confirmation.
- Tickets are per child; accompanying adults are free.
- Sorry, NO DOGS. (We truly love our four-legged friends, but do not permit them at our events)

Bore Place is home to Commonwork Trust, an educational charity that has been working towards a sustainable future since 1976. This event is part of our 50th anniversary celebrations.
