Silent Earth: Averting the Insect Apocalypse

Bore Place is delighted to offer this unmissable opportunity to hear from renowned author, bumble bee specialist and conservationist, Professor Dave Goulson.

Insects are essential for life as we know it – without them, our world will slowly grind to a halt. They are food, pollinators, recyclers, pest-controllers and much more, so we should be deeply concerned that they are in rapid decline. Drawing on the latest groundbreaking research and a lifetime’s study, Dave Goulson reveals the shocking decline of insect populations that has taken place in recent decades and the potentially catastrophic consequences.

In this fascinating, inspiring and hopeful talk, Dave Goulson will explain the reasons why insects are declining, as well as looking at the solutions for this crisis. Whilst fundamental alterations are required in government policy and agriculture, Dave Goulson will also suggest changes we can make in our own lives, homes and gardens to help our insect populations recover.

Eye-opening and inspiring, Silent Earth is a call to arms for profound change at every level and a passionate argument for us to love, respect and care for our six-legged friends.

Dave will be taking questions at the end of the talk, and his books will be available to buy on the night. He will also be signing, if you'd like your book signed by the author!

Ticket includes a glass of organic wine, or a cup of tea or coffee.

Interested older children are welcome (age 11+). Children must be accompanied by an adult.
