Can you tell the difference between mice, voles and shrews?
A practical introduction to identifying small mammals, suitable for adults and children.
During this guided session, you'll check our humane traps and hedgehog tunnel to see small mammals close up, and learn how to identify differences between mice, voles and shrews. After releasing them, you will learn other ways to determine the presence of small mammals by looking at nests, nibbled nuts and dissecting owl pellets to discover what small mammals they have been preying on.
- Some of the session will be outside, so please dress for the weather and bring boots/wellies.
- Children under 16 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
This training session is one of a programme of events in the Bore Place Wildlives and Wellbeing project. Keep an eye on our What’s On page for more wildlife identification training sessions, residential stays and Bioblitzes in Spring and Summer 2018. Sign up to our mailing list to keep updated.
