Printmaking: Cow Prints

Event closed

We're sorry, this event has now passed.

Create a cow monoprint using the three colour process

Taking inspiration from the organic dairy farm, you’ll start by drawing a cow design and then be guided through the three colour printing process to develop your drawing into a monoprint to take home.

During this relaxed workshop led by Elaine Thompson, artist and experienced workshop leader, you will learn the concept of colour layering using the three process colours to develop your drawings into beautiful, colourful overprints. The painterly, mark-making qualities of monoprint will be explored and you will be shown the technique of printing without a press on Japanese paper with a baron.

No previous experience of printmaking is necessary, but an interest in or experience of drawing is useful. Also suitable for those with some previous experience who wish to develop their knowledge and printmaking techniques.

A light lunch will be provided along with tea and coffee. Please note any dietary requirements at the time of booking.

Course fee includes all printing materials, but you will need to bring a sketchbook and drawing materials for the first part of the session.

Please arrive at 9:15am for tea/coffee, for a 9:30am start.

What to bring

  • Wellies/boots for use on the farm (please bring these separately as you’ll need indoor footwear too)
  • Sketchbook and drawing materials
  • Apron (we have some spares if you don't have one!)
