Top tips for decorating your wedding sustainably

Posted by Stephanie Rueff

Are you recently engaged? Firstly, congratulations! There is a whole wedding world out there, but if you are an eco-conscious couple it can be tricky to make choices that are in keeping with your principles and that don’t have a big cost to the environment and your bank balance.

Bore Place is nestled in the heart of the Kent countryside and prides itself on being an eco-venue. The surrounding estate is organically-managed and provides a peaceful and relaxed environment for your special day.

This atmosphere is what sets us apart and makes an ideal venue for couples looking for a green wedding. Making Bore Place your wedding venue gives you a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces and a blank canvas to make your own.

Over the years, we’ve seen some wonderful ways that couples have decorated Bore Place in a sustainable and eco-friendly way, and have decided to share some with you….

  • At the heart of sustainability is seasonality – try using seasonal flowers as centre pieces or fresh seasonal fruit on cakes

  • Greenery, herbs and wild flowers give a beautiful backdrop to your special day

• Support your local charity shop by making bunting from recycled or donated pieces of fabric

• Let your guests know what is happening during the day with an order of events written on a recycled pallet

  • After you’ve tied the knot, encourage your guests to throw natural, biodegradable confetti. You could even send some out with the invitation!
